However, the proposed reforms are said to weaken the position of the developing countries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What are the issues in the proposed WTO reforms?<\/strong><br \/>\nAs per some experts, the reforms may undermine the participation and say of the developing countries:<\/p>\n<p><strong>First,<\/strong> the proposed agenda will undermine the fundamental WTO <strong>principles of consensus<\/strong> and <strong>multilateralism<\/strong>. It will favour <strong>plurilateralism<\/strong> and create differentiation among developing countries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Second,<\/strong> instead of addressing <strong>serious flaws<\/strong> within the existing harmful WTO rules, the new \u2018reform\u2019 will end up producing a framework which will be<strong> pro-corporate<\/strong>, and <strong>pro-developed countries<\/strong>. The richest nations and the global corporations will have complete control over the WTO.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Third,<\/strong> the reforms will subvert the key principles of WTO, which are: <strong>One nation one vote<\/strong>, <strong>decisions by consensus<\/strong> and \u2018<strong>special and differentiated treatment\u2019<\/strong> to protect developing country interests.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fourth,<\/strong> it will lead to permanently abandoning the <strong>mandated<\/strong>, <strong>long-unresolved issues<\/strong> of the <strong>development agenda<\/strong>.
