What is Migration in India 2020-21 Report?<\/b><\/h5>\n
Purpose: <\/b>The report is based on the first-time collection of additional data during the annual round of the Periodic Labour Force Survey for July 2020-June 2021. The report separates the categories of \u2018temporary visitors\u2019 and \u2018migrants\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n Migration<\/b>: <\/span>Migrants are classified as those whose last usual place of residence is different from the present place of enumeration. The usual place of residence is the village or town where the person stayed continuously for a period of six months or more or intends to stay for six months or more.<\/span><\/p>\n \u2013 According to the report, the all-India migration rate was 28.9% for July 2020-June 2021 with a 26.5% migration rate in rural areas and 34.9% in urban areas.<\/span><\/p>\n \u2013 <\/span>Females recorded a higher share of migration rate of 47.9% while the migration rate for males was seen at 10.7%.<\/span><\/p>\n \u2013 N<\/span>early 88% of migrants moved within the same state in 2020-21 while 11.8% moved to another state during the same period.<\/span><\/p>\n Temporary Visitors: <\/b>Temporary visitors have been defined as the ones who arrived in households after March 2020 and stayed continuously for a period of 15 days or more but less than 6 months.<\/span><\/p>\n \u2013 According to the report, only 0.7% of the country\u2019s population was a \u2018temporary visitor\u2019 in households during July 2020-June 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n Note: <\/b>Taking the country\u2019s total population to be 121.08 crores (Census 2011), 0.7% would imply to be about 85 lakh \u2018temporary visitors\u2019 in the households.<\/span><\/p>\n Source: <\/b>The post is based on the article<\/span> \u201c<\/b>\u2018Majority of migrants moved within same state in 2020-21\u2019: PLFS<\/b>\u201d<\/b> published in<\/span> TOI <\/b>on 16th June 2022.<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" What is the News?
