{"id":1938,"date":"2017-06-17T18:31:22","date_gmt":"2017-06-17T18:31:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=1938"},"modified":"2017-06-18T10:45:30","modified_gmt":"2017-06-18T10:45:30","slug":"india-makes-medical-achievement-first-successful-uterine-transplants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/india-makes-medical-achievement-first-successful-uterine-transplants\/","title":{"rendered":"India makes medical achievement-first successful uterine transplants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><u>Context<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>India witnessed the first uterine transplants of two patients at Galaxy Care Laparoscopy Institute (GCLI)<\/li>\n<li>The woman from Solapur suffers from congenital uterus absence.<\/li>\n<li>She was fitted with her mother\u2019s womb, which was retrieved mainly through laparoscopic or minimally invasive surgery after a nine-hour operation on May 18.<\/li>\n<li>The other woman from Baroda had a dysfunctional uterus and was suffering from Asherman\u2019s Syndrome (adhesions or internal scar tissues)<\/li>\n<li>About 20 uterine transplant operations have been performed around the world to date.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Post Surgery<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Both the patients are in good health.<\/li>\n<li>After internal tests, the doctors found out that the inner lining of the uterus in both cases has thickened while the blood parameters are within normal range.<\/li>\n<li>Sperms had been taken from the respective husbands of the patients and eight embryos had been frozen.<\/li>\n<li>There will be a wait for another six months at least before the embryos are implanted in the transplanted wombs.<\/li>\n<li>The hospital has received more than 80 applications since the transplants.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Context India witnessed the first uterine transplants of two patients at Galaxy Care Laparoscopy Institute (GCLI) The woman from Solapur suffers from congenital uterus absence.
