{"id":193919,"date":"2022-07-04T21:03:39","date_gmt":"2022-07-04T15:33:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=193919"},"modified":"2022-07-04T21:03:39","modified_gmt":"2022-07-04T15:33:39","slug":"indias-largest-floating-solar-power-project-commissioned","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/indias-largest-floating-solar-power-project-commissioned\/","title":{"rendered":"India\u2019s largest floating solar power project commissioned"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5><b>What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">India\u2019s largest <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/worlds-largest-floating-solar-energy-project-in-omkareshwar-dam\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">floating solar plant <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is now fully operational at Ramagundam in Telangana\u2019s Peddapalli district.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>About Ramagundam Floating Solar Project<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a 100-megawatt(MW) floating solar power photovoltaic project commissioned by the National Thermal Power Corporation(NTPC).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Features:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project is e<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ndowed with advanced technology and Environment-friendly features.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">solar modules are placed across 500 acres on floaters manufactured with high-density polyethene material that keeps floating irrespective of water-level fluctuations<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This project is also unique in the sense that all the electrical equipment including inverter, transformer, HT panel, and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) are also on floating Ferro cement platforms.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>What are the benefits of the project?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><b>Less Land Required<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: The most obvious advantage is the minimum land requirement mostly for associated evacuation arrangements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Reduced Water Evaporation Rate:<\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The solar panels floating on the water surface will reduce the evaporation rate and thereby help water conservation<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Reduced Co2 Emission<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: The water body underneath the solar modules helps in maintaining their ambient temperature, thereby improving their efficiency and generation.
