What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n

The Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change organized \u201cHariyali Mahotsav\u201d in New Delhi.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is Hariyali Mahotsav?<\/b><\/h5>\n

Hariyali Mahotsav is also known as the <\/span>Tree Festival.<\/b><\/p>\n

Organized by: <\/b>Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aim: <\/b>To create awareness about the importance of trees and green cover to protect the environment against air pollution and global warming.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The festival involves <\/b>planting 75 saplings in 75 urban forest spaces across the country as part of the 75th anniversary of Indian Independence.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Significance<\/b>: Tree plantation is one of the actions towards <\/span>Lifestyle for Environment(LiFE)<\/span><\/a> as announced by the Prime Minister in CoP 26 at Glasgow.<\/span><\/p>\n

Steps taken by India to conserve Nature<\/b><\/h5>\n

India has a population of 17% of the world, yet it accounts for only 4% of carbon emissions. While other developed nations with the same percentage of the population account for nearly 60% of carbon emissions.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

India hosts rich biodiversity and in spite of the various anthropogenic challenges faced, the country thrives with 52 tiger reserves and 31 elephant reserves, and many other endemic, vibrant wildlife and rich forests.<\/span><\/p>\n

India has committed to meet 50 percent of its energy requirements from renewable energy by 2030.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Under the <\/span>Soil Health Card Scheme, <\/span><\/a>the Government has issued 23 crores of soil health cards, which shows our commitment to the health of the soil.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
