{"id":1952,"date":"2017-06-10T08:51:05","date_gmt":"2017-06-10T08:51:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=1952"},"modified":"2021-04-23T15:55:53","modified_gmt":"2021-04-23T10:25:53","slug":"what-is-multidimensional-poverty-index-mpi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/what-is-multidimensional-poverty-index-mpi\/","title":{"rendered":"What is Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI)?"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>The\u00a0 s Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI)\u00a0 is the product of two numbers: the Headcount H or percentage of people who are poor and the average intensity of deprivation A \u2013 which reflects the proportion of dimensions in which households are, on average deprived.<\/li>\n<li>The criterion for someone to be declared as deprived as per MPI are as follows:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Education (year of schooling, child enrollment): Each indicator is equally weighted at 1\/6.<\/li>\n<li>Health (child mortality, nutrition): Each indicator is equally weighted at 1\/6.<\/li>\n<li>Standard of living (electricity, drinking water, sanitation, flooring, cooking fuel, assets): Each indicator is equally weighted at 1\/18.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>In terms of countries, India accounts for both the highest and a staggering number of multi-dimensionally poor people.
