{"id":196837,"date":"2022-07-22T19:42:01","date_gmt":"2022-07-22T14:12:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=196837"},"modified":"2022-07-22T19:42:01","modified_gmt":"2022-07-22T14:12:01","slug":"hydrophobic-ingredients-in-combination-with-obsolete-antibiotics-can-counter-multidrug-resistant-bacteria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/hydrophobic-ingredients-in-combination-with-obsolete-antibiotics-can-counter-multidrug-resistant-bacteria\/","title":{"rendered":"Hydrophobic ingredients in combination with obsolete antibiotics can counter multidrug-resistant bacteria"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The post is based on the article<\/span><b> \u201c<\/b><b>Hydrophobic ingredients in combination with obsolete antibiotics can counter multidrug-resistant bacteria<\/b><b>\u201d <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">published in <\/span><b>PIB <\/b>on<b> 21st July 2022.<\/b><\/p>\n<h5><b>What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scientists have come up with a new approach to revitalizing the efficacy of existing antibiotics to counter the rising menace of multidrug-resistant bacteria.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>The problem of Antimicrobial Resistance<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Antimicrobial resistance is emerging as one of the biggest health problems worldwide resulting in an increasing number of complicated infections that are untreatable.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example, WHO <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has demarcated <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Acinetobacter baumannii<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pseudomonas aeruginosa,<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Enterobacteriaceae,<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> all of which are resistant to carbapenems (an antibiotic) as the topmost priority critical pathogens.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This has triggered the use of combinations of various antibiotics to treat such complicated infections.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hence, there was a need to develop novel therapeutic strategies to combat these multidrug-resistant pathogens.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>What is the new approach developed by scientists?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scientists have used adjuvants in combination with existing antibiotics like fusidic acid, minocycline, and rifampicin.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This combination inactivated multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria, including the above-mentioned three critical pathogens.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Note: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An adjuvant is an ingredient used in some vaccines that helps create a stronger immune response in people receiving the vaccine.
