What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n

The Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying has launched NDDB MRIDA Limited.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is NDDB MRIDA Limited?<\/b><\/h5>\n

NDDB MRIDA Limited is a wholly-owned subsidiary company of the National Dairy Development Board.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was established as an Unlisted Public Limited Company under the Companies Act, 2013.<\/span><\/p>\n

Purpose:<\/b> It is a first-of-its-kind company focussing on the efficient utilization of dung by creating a manure management value chain.<\/span><\/p>\n

Activities to be undertaken by the company:<\/b> It will undertake research and development on cost-effective technologies for efficient dung management.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 The company will also provide marketing and sales support to agencies manufacturing gobar-gas slurry-based fertilizers and establish mechanisms to accrue carbon revenue from the projects to generate additional revenue streams for dairy farmers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Note: <\/b>NDDB has registered a trademark named \u201c<\/span>SuDhan<\/b>\u201d to provide a common identity to dung-based organic fertilizers.<\/span><\/p>\n

What are the benefits of effective manure management?<\/b><\/h5>\n

Firstly,<\/b> manure management initiatives have the potential to generate biogas equivalent to 50% of India\u2019s present LPG consumption and to produce bio-slurry equivalent to 44% of India\u2019s NPK (nitrogen, phosphorous and potash) requirement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Secondly,<\/b> it will open avenues of additional income for dairy farmers from the sale of slurry\/ dung.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Thirdly,<\/b> efficient manure management promotes general well-being & cleanliness and contributes to increasing the productive economic life cycle of the milch animals beyond milking. Thereby helping tackle the problem of stray cattle & lowering of GHG emissions.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
