News: At present, <\/strong>Switzerland\u2019s State Secretary in charge of Switzerland\u2019s Foreign Policy is on an official visit to India.<\/p>\n

India-Switzerland Relationship<\/strong><\/p>\n

Diplomatic relation:<\/strong> India and Switzerland signed the Treaty of Friendship <\/strong>in 1948 in New Delhi. Therefore, both countries are going to commemorate the 75th anniversary of our friendship next year.<\/p>\n

Science and Technological relation: <\/strong>Both are collaborating on digital transformation, sustainability, health, life sciences, MedTech, infrastructure, cleantech, fintech, blockchain, AI, and robotics.<\/p>\n

Trade and Commerce relation: <\/strong>Innovation and investment continue to be the primary drivers<\/strong> of bilateral relations. Switzerland is the 12th largest investor<\/strong> in India. There are about 100 Swiss companies<\/strong> which are manufacturing locally and supporting the Make in India initiative<\/strong> of India.<\/p>\n

Potential areas of cooperation<\/strong><\/p>\n

There is enormous bilateral economic potential<\/strong>. For example<\/strong>, trade talks between Switzerland (as part of the European Free Trade Association EFTA) and India are high on the priority list.<\/p>\n

Switzerland is one of the most innovative countries<\/strong> and also the home of world-leading technology companies<\/strong>. Therefore, Switzerland seeks to engage with India, the leader of the industry 4.0 revolution<\/strong>, in areas ranging from digital governance to digital self-determination.<\/p>\n

Both Switzerland and India may work together to address climate change<\/strong> and its impact on security<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

There are convergences in Swiss and Indian priorities at the UN Security Council<\/strong>. Switzerland has been elected as a non-permanent member<\/strong> of the UNSC and desires to make the UNSC, an effective institution through the process of greater transparency<\/strong> as well as accountability<\/strong>. On similar lines, India has also been advocating for similar reform in the United Nations Security Council.<\/p>\n

Both countries are committed to a robust and effective multilateral system<\/strong>. With reliable voices, both countries can together contribute to the global good.<\/p>\n

Both countries have a convergence<\/strong> of the shared democratic values<\/strong> and foreign policy independence.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
