India is getting a demographic dividend that will last nearly 30 years.<\/p>\n<p>Deloitte\u2019s Deloitte Insights (in 2017) expects \u201cIndia\u2019s potential workforce to rise from 885 million to \u201c1.08 billion people over the next two decades from today.\u201d The insights contends that \u201cthe next 50 years will be an Indian summer that redraws the face of global economic power.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McKinsey &amp; Company\u2019s report, \u2018India at Turning Point\u2019 (in 2020) suggested how India can \u201ccreate $2.5 trillion of economic value in 2030 and support 112 million jobs, or about 30% of the non-farm workforce in 2030.\u201d These include digitisation and automation, shifting supply chains, urbanisation, rising incomes and demographic shifts, and a greater focus on sustainability, health, and safety are accelerating.<\/p>\n<table style=\"border-collapse: collapse; width: 100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><strong>Read more: <a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/india-in-2023-the-challenge-and-opportunity-of-being-the-most-populous-country\/\">India in 2023: The challenge and opportunity of being the most populous country<\/a><\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h5>How do India and China reap their demographic dividends?<\/h5>\n<p>India today is compared to China, the only country it can be reasonably compared to. The Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution in China fuelled China&#8217;s growth for decades.<\/p>\n<p>The IT technologies in India have matured exponentially. Now the IR can revolutionise learning and transform Indian society at an astonishingly low cost.<\/p>\n<p>India does not have a Hukou system which in China attaches rural folk to rural parts creating a deep divide between urban China. But the Hukou system disincentivises migration to urban areas.
