He is made really the symbol of the impartial dignity of the Constitution.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>However, in the Constituent Assembly, there is absolutely no discussion on vesting the supreme command of the defence forces in the president. It almost seems that the Constitution framers had taken it as a given that the supreme command of the armed forces would be vested in the presidency.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, the term \u201cdefence forces of the Union\u201d is nowhere defined in the Constitution.<\/p>\n<table style=\"border-collapse: collapse; width: 100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><strong>Read more: <a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/the-president-is-not-a-mere-rubber-stamp\/\">The President is not a mere rubber stamp<\/a><\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h5>Who is the Supreme Commander in other countries?<\/h5>\n<p>According to <strong>British practice<\/strong> where the supreme command of the armed forces is vested in the monarch.<\/p>\n<p>In both the <strong>American and French constitutional schemes<\/strong>, the supreme command of the armed forces vests in the president. However, both these countries have an executive presidency.<\/p>\n<p><strong>China<\/strong> had an interesting institution dating back to 1925 called the Central Military Commission.
