Some of these are:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 Expanding the scope of the proposed law to cover discussions on non-personal data \u2014 thereby changing the mandate of the Bill from personal data protection to broader data protection.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 Recommended changes on issues such as regulation of social media companies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 Using only \u201ctrusted hardware\u201d in smartphones.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 Social media companies that do not act as intermediaries should be treated as content publishers \u2014 making them liable for the content they host.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: The post is based on the article \u201cUnion government rolls back Data Protection Bill\u201d published in The Hindu on 5th August 2022.
