{"id":199370,"date":"2022-08-09T18:36:13","date_gmt":"2022-08-09T13:06:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=199370"},"modified":"2022-08-09T18:36:13","modified_gmt":"2022-08-09T13:06:13","slug":"mohua-constitutes-committee-to-identify-and-designate-institutions-as-centres-of-excellence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/mohua-constitutes-committee-to-identify-and-designate-institutions-as-centres-of-excellence\/","title":{"rendered":"MoHUA constitutes committee to identify and designate institutions as Centres of Excellence"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The post is based on the article<\/span><b> \u201c<\/b><b>MoHUA constitutes committee to identify and designate institutions as Centres of Excellence<\/b><b>\u201d <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">published in<\/span><b> PIB <\/b>on<b> 8th August 2022.<\/b><\/p>\n<h5><b>What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has constituted a committee to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">identify and designate institutions as Centres of Excellence.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>Why is this committee constituted?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Budget 2022-23, the Finance Minister has announced that for developing India-specific knowledge in urban planning and design and to deliver certified training in these areas, up to five existing academic institutions in different regions will be designated as centres of excellence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These centres will also be provided endowment funds of Rs. 250 crores each.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hence, in order to steer the process of identifying and designating institutions as Centers of Excellence (CoEs), this committee has been constituted.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>What is the composition and terms of reference of the committee?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><b>Composition:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The committee consists of officials from MoHUA, Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education), All India Council for Technical Education, NITI Aayog and leading domain experts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The terms of Reference of the Committee are<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 To identify the parameters for evaluating the institution\u2019s capacity to undertake training and capacity-building programmes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 To lay down the process for the selection of institutions to be designated as CoEs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 To recommend five CoEs, one from each region, based on the challenge competition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 To suggest a list of subjects on which India-specific knowledge may be created and training and capacity building may be provided by the CoEs.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: The post is based on the article \u201cMoHUA constitutes committee to identify and designate institutions as Centres of Excellence\u201d published in PIB on 8th August 2022.
