What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n

The Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has launched the indigenous vaccine <\/span>Lumpi-ProVac<\/span> to protect livestock from Lumpy Skin disease.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is <\/b>Lumpi-ProVac<\/b> Vaccine?<\/b><\/h5>\n

Developed b<\/b>y<\/strong>: ICAR-National Research Centre on Equines (ICAR-NRCE), Hisar (Haryana), in collaboration with ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI),Uttar Pradesh.<\/span><\/p>\n

Purpose:<\/b> It is a vaccine to protect livestock from Lumpy Skin disease.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cost<\/b>: The cost per dose is \u20b91-2.<\/span><\/p>\n

Immunity: <\/b>The immunity induced by this vaccine usually persists for a minimum period of one year.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is Lumpy Skin Disease(LSD)?<\/b><\/h5>\n

LSD is primarily a disease in cattle. It was reported for the first time in India in 2019 from Odisha.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the initial years, the disease was mainly restricted to the eastern part of our country. Later on, it rapidly spread to almost all the states in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n
