What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n

The Union Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) for the continuation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) up to 31stDecember 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is <\/b>Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban(PMAY-U)?<\/b><\/h5>\n

Nodal Ministry: <\/b>Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA)\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Aim: <\/b>To provide all-weather pucca houses to all eligible beneficiaries in the urban areas of the country through States\/UTs\/Central Nodal Agencies.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Coverage:<\/b> The scheme covers the entire urban area of the country, i.e., all statutory towns as per Census 2011 and towns notified subsequently, including Notified Planning\/ Development Areas.<\/span><\/p>\n

Verticals:<\/b> The scheme is being implemented through four verticals:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 <\/span>Beneficiary Linked Construction (BLC):<\/b> Subsidy for beneficiary-led individual house construction \/enhancement.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 <\/span>Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS):<\/b> Promotion of affordable housing for weaker sections through credit subsidy.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 <\/span>Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP):<\/b> Creation of houses by both public and private sectors.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 <\/span>In-Situ Slum Redevelopment (ISSR):<\/b> Rehabilitation of slum dwellers with the participation of private developers using land as a resource.<\/span><\/p>\n

Features of the Scheme<\/b><\/h5>\n

\u2013 Type:<\/b> It is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS), except for Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS), which is a Central Sector Scheme.<\/span><\/p>\n
