Due to Twitter\u2019s basic architectural flaws, they got access to the platform\u2019s user data and vast amounts of Twitter&#8217;s sensitive data.<\/p>\n<p>However, it is not clear whether the agent referred here is the <strong>grievance officer<\/strong> that <strong>social media networks <\/strong>operating in India are required to recruit, as per the<strong> new laws<\/strong> framed in 2021.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>How this will impact free speech?<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>In recent years, the Government of India has been part of efforts to block its critics on social platforms.\u00a0Therefore, unfettered access to sensitive user data on the social media platform can kill free speech.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>What should be done?<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>The Government of India as well as Twitter must come up with an official response to the recent disclosure.<\/p>\n<p>Further, the Government of India should also assure everyone that it is indeed batting for the individual\u2019s rights of free speech and privacy.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: The post is based on an article \u201cClean and Clear: Government, Twitter must reassure the public that user data has not been compromised\u201d published in \u201cThe Hindu\u201d on 29th August 2022.
