What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n

Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the disposal of Chana (Pulses) to States\/UTs at a discounted rate to be utilized for various Welfare Schemes from the stock of pulses procured under the Price Support Scheme(PSS) & Price Stabilization Fund (PSF).<\/span><\/p>\n

What is a Price Support Scheme?<\/b><\/h5>\n

Nodal Ministry<\/b>: Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare<\/span><\/p>\n

Purpose: <\/b>The scheme is operationalised only when prices of agri-produce fall below the minimum support price(MSP).<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the Price<\/b> Stabilization Fund(PSF)?<\/b><\/h5>\n

Setup in: <\/b>2014-15<\/span><\/p>\n

Nodal Ministry: <\/b>Department of Consumer Affairs<\/span><\/p>\n

Aim: <\/b>To help regulate the price volatility of important agri-horticultural commodities like onion, potatoes and pulses.<\/span><\/p>\n

Features of the scheme: <\/b>The scheme provides for maintaining a strategic buffer of commodities for subsequent calibrated release to moderate price volatility and discourage hoarding and unscrupulous speculation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For building such stock, the scheme promotes direct purchase from farmers\/farmers\u2019 associations at the farm gate\/Mandi.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Fund Utilization<\/b>: The PSF fund is utilized for granting interest-free advance of working capital to Central Agencies, State\/UT Governments\/Agencies to undertake market intervention operations.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Apart from domestic procurement <\/b>from farmers\/wholesale mandis, import may also be undertaken with support from the Fund.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
