{"id":205972,"date":"2022-09-15T17:49:09","date_gmt":"2022-09-15T12:19:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=205972"},"modified":"2022-09-15T17:49:09","modified_gmt":"2022-09-15T12:19:09","slug":"union-govt-push-for-use-of-hindi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/union-govt-push-for-use-of-hindi\/","title":{"rendered":"Union govt. push for use of Hindi"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Source<\/strong>: The post is based on the article\u00a0<strong>\u201cUnion govt. push for use of Hindi<\/strong><strong>\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0published in\u00a0<strong>The Hindu\u00a0<\/strong>on\u00a0<strong>15<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0September 2022<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h5>What is the News?<\/h5>\n<p>The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has written to the Ministry of External Affairs to promote the use of Hindi for official work in banks, public sector undertakings, embassies and other government offices located in foreign countries.<\/p>\n<p>Further, the MHA asked the Ministry of External Affairs to provide a list of all the government institutions in foreign countries and constitute an <strong>Official Language Implementation Committee<\/strong> that would oversee the progress of Hindi in official work.<\/p>\n<h5>What are the recent steps taken by the government to promote Hindi?<\/h5>\n<p>The 2011 report of a <strong>parliamentary standing committee on Hindi<\/strong> recommended the following to promote the Hindi language, <strong>a)<\/strong> Option to write exams in Hindi, <strong>b)<\/strong> Minimum knowledge of Hindi must for government jobs, <strong>c)<\/strong> 50% of government advertisements in Hindi, <strong>d)<\/strong> Railway tickets should be bilingual with Hindi being one of the languages and announcement at railway stations in \u201cC\u201d category (non-Hindi speaking states) such as Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana and Kerala.<\/p>\n<p>In 2017, the MHA accepted most of the recommendations.
