They were recovered 75 cm from beneath the surface.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Sangam Era: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They discovered Sangam era (almost 2,000 years ago) artefacts including rouletted pottery, Roman amphora sherds, and glass beads suggesting active commerce with Rome.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Early and Later Pallavas:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> They discovered sculptures ranging from the early Pallava period (275 CE) to the late Pallavas on the floor inside the surrounding space (897 CE).<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>What is the significance of this discovery?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With these discoveries, Vadakkupattu village site has now become a culturally and archaeologically important site.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: The post is based on the article \u201cArchaeological Survey of India finds 12,000-year-old artefacts near Chennai\u201d published in TOI on 23rd September 2022 What is the News?
