{"id":207256,"date":"2022-09-23T19:40:47","date_gmt":"2022-09-23T14:10:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=207256"},"modified":"2022-09-23T19:40:47","modified_gmt":"2022-09-23T14:10:47","slug":"sugar-coated-pouches-in-body-fluids-can-help-detect-cancer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/sugar-coated-pouches-in-body-fluids-can-help-detect-cancer\/","title":{"rendered":"Sugar-coated pouches in body fluids can help detect cancer"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The post is based on the article <\/span><b>\u201c<\/b><b>Sugar-coated pouches in body fluids can help detect cancer<\/b><b>\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> published in<\/span><b> PIB <\/b>on<b> 22nd September 2022<\/b><\/p>\n<h5><b>What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">team of scientists have recently developed a new molecular biosensor for easy detection of the cancer microenvironment.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>Cancer Cells<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cancer cells secrete small pouches namely extracellular vesicles(EV) covered with sugar molecules called Hyaluronan(HA) which have a direct link to tumour malignancy and are considered a potential biomarker for early diagnosis of colon cancer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These EVs are abundant in body fluids (blood, faeces etc) and all types of cells secrete these EVs into the extracellular matrix.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cancer cells secrete at least two times more EVs into the body fluids than normal cells. Therefore, these EVs could be isolated non-invasively from a patient\u2019s body for early cancer diagnosis.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>What has the study found out about Cancer cells?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scientists have found that <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">single cancer cell-derived EV is coated with very short chain HA molecules (contour length less than 500 nanometers) using single molecule techniques.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These short-chain HA-coated EVs are significantly more elastic than normal cell-derived EVs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This intrinsic elasticity of HA-coated EVs in cancer helps them to withstand multiple external forces during extracellular transportation, uptake, excretion by cells, adhesion to cell surfaces, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These findings will help in the easy detection of cancer.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: The post is based on the article \u201cSugar-coated pouches in body fluids can help detect cancer\u201d published in PIB on 22nd September 2022 What is the News?
