What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n

The Union Minister of Rural Development has launched the \u201cJALDOOT App\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is a JALDOOT App?<\/b><\/h5>\n

Developed by: <\/b>Ministry of Rural Development and Ministry of Panchayati Raj.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aim:<\/b> To monitor the underground water levels across the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

Key Features of the app: <\/b>JALDOOT app will be used to capture the water level of selected two-three wells in every village.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 The water levels in these open wells will be measured twice a year, from May 1 to May 31\u00a0<\/span>during the pre-monsoon time, and from October 1 to October 31 for post-monsoon levels.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 To ensure transparency, the officers assigned to measure have been told to upload the\u00a0<\/span>geotagged photographs through the app each time the measurement is done.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 The app will work both in online and offline mode to ensure that lack of internet connectivity does not come in the way of the exercise.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 The regular data to be input by the \u2018Jaldoots\u2019 would be integrated with the database of the National Water Informatics Centre which can be utilized for analysis and help in conservation efforts.<\/span><\/p>\n

Significance: <\/b>The app will facilitate panchayats with robust data which can be further used for better planning of works. The groundwater data could be utilized as a part of the Gram Panchayat Development Plan<\/a> <\/strong>and MGNREGA<\/a><\/strong> planning exercises.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
