It has been associated with traditional Kashmiri cuisine and represents the rich cultural heritage of the region.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is known all over the world as a spice, and health rejuvenator and is also used in cosmetics as well as for medicinal purposes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Saffron is referred to as \u2018<\/span>bahukam\u2019<\/b> in ancient Sanskrit literature.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is cultivated and harvested in the <\/span>Karewa (highlands)<\/b> of J&K.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2020, the <\/span>Kashmir saffron<\/b> got <\/span>Geographical Indication (GI) tag status.<\/b><\/p>\n

Pampore region, commonly known as the Saffron bowl of Kashmir is the main contributor to saffron production.<\/span><\/p>\n
