What is the Network Readiness Index?<\/b><\/h5>\n

Prepared by: <\/b>Portulans Institute, an independent non-profit institute based in Washington DC.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aim: <\/b>To rank the network-based readiness landscape of 131 economies based on their performances in four different pillars: Technology, People, Governance, and Impact \u2013 using 58 different indicators.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What are the key takeaways from NRI 2022?<\/b><\/h5>\n

India: \u200b\u200b<\/b>India has improved its position by six slots and is now placed at <\/span>61st rank.<\/b><\/p>\n

\u2013 India leads in several indicators. It has secured <\/span>a) <\/b>1st rank in \u201cAI talent concentration\u201d, <\/span>b) <\/b>2nd rank in \u201cMobile broadband internet traffic within the country\u201d and \u201cInternational Internet bandwidth\u201d, <\/span>c) <\/b>3rd rank in \u201cAnnual investment in telecommunication services\u201d and \u201cDomestic market size\u201d, <\/span>d) <\/b>4th rank in \u201cICT Services exports\u201d and <\/span>e) <\/b>5th rank in \u201cFTTH\/Building Internet subscriptions\u201d and \u201cAI scientific publications\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 India has a greater network readiness than would be expected given its income level.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 India is ranked 3rd out of 36 in the group of lower-middle-income countries after Ukraine (50) and Indonesia (59). India has a score higher than the income group average in all pillars and sub-pillars.<\/span><\/p>\n

Globally<\/b>: <\/b>The United States takes the 1st spot from the Netherlands (4th) as the most network-ready society.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
