According to a Lancet report, <\/span>Bacterial Infections were the second leading cause of death worldwide.<\/span><\/p>\n

India:<\/b> In <\/span>India, five bacteria were responsible for at least 6.8 lakh deaths in 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 The five deadly bacteria in India are led by <\/span>Escherichia coli<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>Streptococcus pneumoniae<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>Klebsiella pneumoniae<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>Staphylococcus aureus<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>Acinetobacter baumanii.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\u2013 E Coli, which is associated with diarrhoea, urinary tract infection and pneumonia among others, claimed a maximum of 1.6 lakh lives in India.<\/span><\/p>\n

Globally:<\/b> An estimated 1.3 crore people died due to infections globally. Of these deaths, 77 lakh deaths were associated with the 33 bacterial pathogens included in the study with five bacteria alone connected to more than half of all deaths.<\/span><\/p>\n

Age-wise: <\/b>The pathogens associated with the most deaths differed by age. S. aureus was associated with the most deaths in adults aged over 15 years globally.<\/span><\/p>\n
