CDSL or Central Depositories Services India Ltd was founded in 1999.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is a government-registered share depository alongside its other state-owned counterpart National Securities Depository Ltd(NSDL).<\/span><\/p>\n

It is a Market Infrastructure Institution or MII that is deemed as a crucial part of the capital market structure, providing services to all market participants including exchanges, clearing corporations, depository participants, issuers and investors.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is a Depository?<\/b><\/h5>\n

A depository is an organization which holds securities<\/span> (like shares, debentures, bonds, government securities, mutual fund units etc) of investors in electronic form at the request of the investors through a registered Depository Participant. It also provides services related to transactions in securities.<\/span><\/p>\n
