All this is basically known as pharmaceutical pollution.<\/p>\n<h5><b>About the status of pharmaceutical pollution in India<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">India is one of the biggest manufacturers of pharmaceuticals worldwide. It has been estimated that India is the world\u2019s third-largest <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">producer<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> pharmaceuticals<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pharmaceutical production has been considered one of the most polluting industries in various parts of India.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Varieties of pharmaceuticals have been detected on the surface, ground and even in drinking water in many Indian cities due to the discharge of waste effluents.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The pollutants majorly enter water bodies due to the following sources: pharmaceutical manufacturing plants, hospitals, wastewater treatment plants, etc.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a consequence, they cause adverse effects on land, water, food, and people\u2019s health.
