Fruits with bitter kernels are called khante meaning bitter, while those with sweet kernels are called <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">nyarmo <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">meaning sweet.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They are further divided into two sub-groups based on seed stone color. Fruit with white seed stones is called <\/span><b><i>Raktsey Karpo <\/i><\/b>w<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hile those with brown seed stones are called <\/span><b><i>Raktsey Nakpo or Nyarmo <\/i><\/b><b>(black seeded).<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ladakh Apricot is also being promoted under One District One Product for Kargil.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>What is special about <\/b><b>Raktsey Karpo Apricot?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><b>Firstly,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> it is <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">packed with vitamins, is low on calories and is rich in sorbitol \u2013 a natural glucose substitute that can be consumed by diabetics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Secondly, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the oil from its seed is known to relieve back aches and joint pain.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Thirdly, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">it is grown organically as an individual on trees or in clusters without using any chemical fertilizers.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: The post is based on the article \u201cLadakh gets its first-ever GI Tag to its Raktsey Karpo Apricot\u201d published in\u00a0AIR on 19th December 2022 What is the News?
