Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change has informed Lok Sabha about the <\/span>Project Lion document titled \u201cLion @ 47: Vision for Amrutkal\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is Lion @ 47: Vision for Amrutkal document?<\/b><\/h5>\n

The Government of India has prepared \u2018Lion@47: Vision for Amrutkal\u2019 as a part of Project Lion for the conservation of Asiatic Lions in Gir, Gujarat.<\/span><\/p>\n

The objective of the document is to 1) <\/strong><\/span>secure & restore lion habitats for managing its growing population, 2)<\/strong> scale up livelihood generation and participation of local communities, 3)<\/strong> become a global hub of knowledge on big cat disease diagnostics and treatment, and 4)<\/strong> create inclusive biodiversity conservation through Project Lion initiative.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is <\/b>Project Lion?<\/b><\/h5>\n

Project Lion is being implemented by the Gujarat government and other stakeholders like the Central Zoo Authority.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The project <\/span>envisages landscape ecology-based conservation of the Asiatic Lion in Gujarat by integrating conservation and eco-development.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Project is being implemented in the Gir landscape in Gujarat, which is the last home of the Asiatic lion.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the Integrated Development of Wildlife Habitats(IDWH) Scheme?<\/b><\/h5>\n

IDWH is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme started in 2008-09.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aim: <\/b>To provide support to <\/span>1) <\/b>protected areas (national parks, wildlife sanctuaries, conservation reserves, and community reserves except for tiger reserves) <\/span>2) <\/b>protection of wildlife outside protected areas and<\/span> 3) <\/b>recovery programs for saving critically endangered species and habitats.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
