What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n

The <\/span>Department of Atomic Energy <\/span>has launched several initiatives and schemes in 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n

What are the schemes and initiatives launched by the <\/b>Department of Atomic Energy\u00a0<\/b>in 2022?<\/b><\/h5>\n

Apsara-upgraded or Apsara-U: <\/b>It is an indigenously developed pool-type research reactor, operationalised at <\/span>Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC)<\/span>, Mumbai.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 The reactor is named after the first research reactor of Asia, the original Apsara, commissioned at Trombay in 1956.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 The facility is being used for enhanced production of radioisotopes for applications in the field of Medicine, Industry and Agriculture.<\/span><\/p>\n

BARC\u2019s NISARGRUNA Biogas plant Based on Biodegradable waste resource:<\/b> This plant can process biodegradable waste such as kitchen waste, paper, grass, gobar and dry leaves.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 It offers \u201cZero garbage and Zero effluent\u201c and provides high-quality manure and methane gas. Weed Free manure obtained from such waste has high nitrogen contents and acts as an excellent soil conditioner.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 This plant could be set up for eco-friendly disposal of wet waste generated in kitchens \/canteens of big Hospitals\/Hotels\/Factories\/residential complexes and can avoid health hazards due to dump sites.<\/span><\/p>\n

Multi-Effect Distillation (MED): <\/b>It is a thermal desalination technology developed by BARC. It produces distilled quality water directly from seawater by using low\/medium pressure steam and electricity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
