Aim: <\/b>To make <\/span>India a global hub for the production of green hydrogen.<\/span><\/p>\n

Implementing Ministry:<\/b> Ministry of New and Renewable Energy(MNRE)\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Key Components of the mission<\/b><\/p>\n

Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition Programme(SIGHT):<\/b> Under this, two distinct financial incentive mechanisms \u2013 targeting domestic manufacturing of electrolysers and production of Green Hydrogen \u2013 will be provided.<\/span><\/p>\n

Support to pilot projects<\/b>: The Mission will support pilot projects in emerging end-use sectors and production pathways.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Research and Development(R&D)<\/b>: A public-private partnership framework for R&D (Strategic Hydrogen Innovation Partnership \u2013 SHIP) will be facilitated under the Mission.<\/span><\/p>\n

Other components: <\/b>A coordinated skill development programme will be undertaken under the Mission.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Regions capable of supporting large-scale production and\/or utilization of Hydrogen will be identified and developed as Green Hydrogen Hubs.<\/span><\/p>\n

What are the expected benefits of the National Green Hydrogen Mission?<\/b><\/h5>\n

1)<\/strong> Creation of export opportunities for Green Hydrogen and its derivatives, 2)<\/strong> Decarbonisation of industrial, mobility and energy sectors, 3)<\/strong> reduction in dependence on imported fossil fuels and feedstock, 4)<\/strong> development of indigenous manufacturing <\/span>capabilities, 5)<\/strong> creation of employment opportunities and 6)<\/strong> development of cutting-edge technologies.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What are the steps taken by other stakeholders to promote green hydrogen?<\/b><\/h5>\n

Kerala has set up a high-level working group for its own Hydrogen Economy Mission to devise a strategic roadmap, policy formulations, and implementation plans for facilitating investments in green hydrogen and making the state \u201ca green hydrogen hub\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Indian Oil Corporation Ltd R&D centre, in collaboration with Tata Motor Limited, had earlier carried out trials of hydrogen fuel cell buses.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
