News<\/strong>– The article explains the external security environment of India. It also explains India strategic outlook on issues impacting its national interest<\/p>\n

What are different scanerios around external security environmenmt of India?<\/strong><\/h5>\n

First scenario<\/strong>– There is relative stability<\/strong> on the border with China. Pakistan is facing internal challenges<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

India\u2019s alliances <\/strong>with the west and the east are becoming more durable. They are bound by the glue of the common threat of China.<\/p>\n

Second scenario<\/strong>– The Chinese are consolidating <\/strong>their position and the Modi government has failed to deter them militarily or diplomatically<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Pakistan will get over its internal issues <\/strong>eventually and get back to its usual business. China and Pakistan continue to be close allies<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Chinese aggression<\/strong> has compelled India to move its firepower to the northern front. It will provide comfort to Pakistan on western front.<\/p>\n

India\u2019s Western allies<\/strong> will remain much too invested in Ukraine.<\/p>\n

Third scenario<\/strong>– Both countries are now fully deployed and any quick, low-cost military gains<\/strong> are not possible. Fresh border disputes will bring bad reputation<\/strong> to aggressor internationally.<\/p>\n

But things could change dramatically if there is a resolution of Ukraine war. Then China can return to bullying behaviour<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Biggest limitation of Pakistan is its weak economy<\/strong>. After Sri Lanka, Pakistan\u2019s is the most bankrupt economy<\/strong> in the region. it has to manage a large army, maintain internal stability amid rising inflation and joblessness, manage an adversarial relationship<\/strong> with a growing India.<\/p>\n

Economic frustrations<\/strong> will fuel support for a populist leader<\/strong> like Imran.<\/p>\n

This scenario shows that strategic situation<\/strong> around India has neither improved nor worsened. It\u2019s gone into a rare long and useful stalemate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The situation of stability will end sooner rather than later. while this affords India some rare strategic breathing time, we should not will waste it.<\/p>\n

This is the time to look to the future, accelerate the changes, and fast-forward the reforms<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

What has been change in strategic outlook of India after Modi government coming to power?<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Since 2014, the Modi government has instituted a significant change in its strategic position<\/strong>. India is no longer hesitate about being seen in alliances<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

India old sensitivities<\/strong> still remain. India is the only Quad memeber<\/strong> unwilling to talk about the grouping\u2019s military dimension<\/strong>. The equation with Russia is being managed sensitively<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Most of Indo-pacific allies<\/strong> have clearly stated, public, national security strategies<\/strong>. They also have Indo-Pacific strategies<\/strong>. India is only power with no stated national or Indo-Pacific strategy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

India is not able to craft a national strategic policy<\/strong> because of its location and live land borders. It\u2019s also a challenge to find the resources to raise India\u2019s maritime power<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
