What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n

The Association of Man-made Fibre Industry of India(AMFII) has appealed to the Union Finance Ministry to accept the recommendations of the Directorate General of Trade Remedies(DGTR) on the levy of <\/span>anti-dumping duty(ADD)<\/span><\/a> on imports of Viscose Staple Fibre from Indonesia.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is Viscose Fibre?<\/b><\/h5>\n

Viscose is a type of rayon. It was originally known as artificial silk. But in the late 19th century, the term \u201crayon\u201d came into effect in 1924.<\/span><\/p>\n

The name \u201cviscose\u201d is derived from the way this fibre is manufactured; a viscous organic liquid used to make both rayon and cellophane.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is the generalized term for a regenerated manufactured fibre, made from cellulose, obtained by the viscose process.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a manufactured regenerated cellulose fibre, it is neither truly natural (like cotton, wool or silk) nor truly synthetic (like nylon or polyester) \u2013 it falls somewhere in between.<\/span><\/p>\n

Chemically, viscose resembles cotton, but it can also take on many different qualities depending on how it is manufactured.<\/span><\/p>\n
