{"id":222691,"date":"2023-01-16T19:42:06","date_gmt":"2023-01-16T14:12:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=222691"},"modified":"2023-01-16T19:42:06","modified_gmt":"2023-01-16T14:12:06","slug":"stirs-by-non-state-actors-a-potential-threat-says-crpf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/stirs-by-non-state-actors-a-potential-threat-says-crpf\/","title":{"rendered":"Stirs by non-state actors a potential threat, says CRPF"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The post is based on the article <\/span><b>\u201c<\/b><b>Stirs by non-state actors a potential threat, says CRPF<\/b><b>\u201d <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">published in <\/span><b>TOI on 16th January 2023.<\/b><\/p>\n<h5><b>What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Central Reserve Police Force(CRPF) has briefed the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Home Ministry on the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">future challenge to internal security.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>What is the CRPF?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CRPF is India\u2019s largest Central Armed Police Force(CAPF).It functions under the aegis of Ministry of Home Affairs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Mandate:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is currently engaged in assisting state police in law and order duties, counter-terror operations in J&amp;K, anti-Naxal fight and security of vital installations and 129 VIPs.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>What are the challenges to internal security highlighted by CRPF?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CRPF views agitations, particularly those fuelled by non-state actors, as a potential source of bigger unrest that could take the country&#8217;s system hostage.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It also sees negative usage of social media for radicalisation and misinformation as well as asymmetric warfare waged by national and transnational players looking to exploit ethnic, social and religious differences to destabilize India in a short span of time as a future challenge to internal security.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>How is CRPF planning to tackle these internal challenges?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><b>Firstly,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> it hopes to counter these new age challenges by not only raising more battalions by the year 2047 but also through regular acquisition of latest weaponry, communication and transportation facilities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Secondly, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">it aims to develop its capacity to \u2018fight in built-up areas\u2018 (FIBUA) to counter the rising threat of \u201chybrid warfare\u201d in urban settings by non-State actors purportedly supported by inimical States.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Thirdly,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> it aims to enhance its ISTAR (intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance) capabilities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Fourthly,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> it also intends to expose its personnel to international training programmes and joint exercises to enhance their skills in responding to the threat of asymmetric warfare and VIP security.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: The post is based on the article \u201cStirs by non-state actors a potential threat, says CRPF\u201d published in TOI on 16th January 2023.
