But Nepal\u2019s and Bangladesh\u2019s fertility rates declined faster between 1990 and 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What is the Replacement level of fertility?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Replacement level is the level of fertility at which a population replaces itself exactly from one generation to the next.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The United Nations(UN\u2019s) prescribed fertility rate is 2.1 births per woman.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>China\u2019s population declined:\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">China\u2019s National Statistics Bureau showed that the country\u2019s population shrank to 1.41 billion in 2022.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>India\u2019s population: <\/b>If data from World Population Prospects is to be believed, then India with a population of 1.412 billion in 2022, would be the most populous country in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A significant reason for this is India\u2019s higher fertility rates or the number of children born per woman.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>India\u2019s Fertility rate data:\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">India\u2019s fertility rate has halved between 1990 and 2020.
