A wildlife team has stumbled upon a Spot-bellied Eagle Owl (<\/span>Bubo Nipalensis<\/span><\/i>) for the first time in the Seshachalam forest and for the third time in Andhra Pradesh.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Spot-bellied Eagle-Owl also known as the forest eagle-owl is a large bird of prey with a formidable appearance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

IUCN Status:<\/b> Least Concern<\/span><\/p>\n

Geographical distribution:<\/b> It is a forest-inhabiting species found across the Indian Subcontinent.<\/span><\/p>\n

Characteristics:<\/b> The bird is found on large trees in thick forests. It feeds on small rodents and lizards.<\/span><\/p>\n

Significance:<\/b> The bird makes a strange scream similar to humans and it is hence called the <\/span>\u2018ghost of the forest<\/b>\u2019 in India and \u2018<\/span>devil bird\u2019<\/b> in Sri Lanka.<\/span><\/p>\n
