The <\/span>Ministry of Road Transport and Highways h<\/span>as launched several initiatives and schemes in 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n

What are the schemes and initiatives launched by the <\/b>Ministry of Road Transport and Highways <\/b>in 2022?<\/b><\/h2>\n

Road Network in the Country: <\/b>India has about 63.73 lakh km of the road network which is the second largest in the world. The length of various categories of roads is as under National Highways (1,44,634 km), State Highways (1,86,908 km) and Other Roads (59,02,539 km).<\/span><\/p>\n

Bharatmala Pariyojana: <\/b>The Bharatmala Pariyojana was launched with the primary focus on optimizing the efficiency of the movement of goods and people across the country.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Phase I of the Bharatmala Pariyojana approved in October 2017, focuses on bridging critical infrastructure gaps through the development of 34,800 km of National Highways.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 The key components of the Pariyojana are Economic Corridors development, Inter-corridor and feeder routes development, National Corridors Efficiency Improvement, Border and International Connectivity Roads, Coastal and Port Connectivity Roads and Expressways.<\/span><\/p>\n

Compensation to Victims of Hit and Run Motor Accidents Scheme<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

Motor Vehicle Accident Fund Rules: <\/b>MoRTH has published rules regarding the creation, operation, sources of funds etc. of the Motor Vehicles Accident Fund.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 This fund shall be used for providing compensation in case of a Hit & Run Accident, treatment for accident victims and any other purpose, as may be specified by the Central Government.<\/span><\/p>\n

Multi-modal logistics parks(MMLPs)<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

Jogighopa Multimodal Logistics Park in Assam<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

Port Connectivity: <\/b>India has a total of 226 ports which comprise 12 Major ports. MoRTH is working to enhance the ports logistics ecosystem by connecting Major & Minor Ports with National Highways, with National Highways Logistics Management Ltd(NHLML) spearheading this endeavour.<\/span><\/p>\n
