{"id":223908,"date":"2023-01-28T19:00:29","date_gmt":"2023-01-28T13:30:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=223908"},"modified":"2023-02-25T11:56:48","modified_gmt":"2023-02-25T06:26:48","slug":"what-is-bharos-software-and-how-different-is-it-from-googles-android-os","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/what-is-bharos-software-and-how-different-is-it-from-googles-android-os\/","title":{"rendered":"What is BharOS software and how different is it from Google\u2019s Android OS?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Source: <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The post is based on the article<\/span><b> \u201cWhat is BharOS software and how different is it from Google\u2019s Android OS?\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> published in <\/span><b>The Hindu <\/b>on <b>25th January 2023<\/b><\/p>\n<h2><b>What is the News?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IIT Madras-incubated company has recently developed the BharOS system.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What is the BharOS System?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BharOS is an indigenous, or homegrown, mobile operating system(OS) like Android or iOS.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has been developed to reduce the dependence on foreign OS in smartphones and promote the use of locally developed technology.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Features of BharOS system<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><b>Native Over the Air:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> BharOS would offer Native Over the Air (NOTA) updates, meaning that security updates and bug fixes will be automatically installed rather than users having to check for updates and implement them on their own.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>No Default Apps(NDA) setting<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: It means that users do not have to keep or use pre-installed apps in this mobile operating system.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 Going with an NDA design for BharOS was intentional as it will let users have more control over the apps on their mobile phones based on the user\u2019s trust in the app and the kind of data they store on their phone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Private App Store Services:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It will use a system known as Private App Store Services (PASS), which will examine and curate the apps that are safe for the users.Users will be able to use other apps, as long as they meet BharOS\u2019 PASS standards.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Who is using BharOS currently?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BharOS Services are currently being provided to organizations that have stringent privacy and security requirements and whose users handle sensitive information that requires confidential communications on restricted apps on mobiles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Such users require access to private cloud services through private 5G networks.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>How BharOS is Different from Google Android?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Technically, BharOS is very similar to Android because they share the same basics. Because BharOS uses AOSP or Android Open Source Project, the functionalities and the methodologies both OS use are essentially the same.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What sets BharOS apart from Android, is that it is free from Google Services and Apps. Google has used its preinstalled apps and services to collect data, sometimes without explicitly asking a user.
