Moreover, most jobs don&#8217;t pay enough and have <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">no social security<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">paradigm of economic growth and globalisation<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> followed by Indian governments is a cause of the problem.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">There is less employment because the <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">organised manufacturing and service sectors<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> are also employing fewer people per unit of capital in order to improve their <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">own labour productivity<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The Indian economy\u2019s problem is the <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">large size of its informal sector and the small scale of its enterprises<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. Employment in the formal sector is also becoming informal with <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">outsourcing, contract employment, and gig work<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Young men need jobs too. Increasing numbers of young and underemployed males are leading to more crime and violence, and sexual assaults of women in Indian cities.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Concepts of <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201ceconomies of scale\u201d are changing to \u201ceconomies of scope\u201d<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, and enterprise forms from <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">concentrated to dispersed units<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">How women&#8217;s participation in the workforce is not conducive to the employment scenario in India?<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">As per economists, more women in the workforce will lead to faster growth.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">distorted view of the economy <\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ignores reality. More Indian women have been working outside their homes to earn money than in any other country perhaps. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">They are working in <strong>a)<\/strong> large numbers on farms, as caregivers and domestic workers, and weavers and producers of handicrafts in small enterprises, <strong>b) <\/strong><\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">as teachers and as Anganwadi and ASHAs providing essential services to communities.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">essential services<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> that women provide to society are <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">not considered productive work<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> for the economy. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">They are being pulled into the <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">limited jobs provided by the formal economy<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. Pushing more women into the formal economy will improve the \u201c<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">female participation rate\u201d<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> in the formal economy and may add to GDP too.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">However, it will not solve the basic problem related to the lack of<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> enough good jobs in formal sectors<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> of India\u2019s economy for the young population.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Why is the overemphasis on the growth of GDP not good for society and nature?<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> paradigm of \u201cgrowth, growth, growth<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201d treats human society and nature as a means to goals of producing more wealth for investors and more GDP.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">According to this <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">paradigm of growth<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, the <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">human needs for safety, health and sufficient income<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> of workers only increase the cost of doing business. These are not concerns of the investors.
