It aims to make India a Global Power House of Farm Machinery.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What are the key highlights from the report?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><b>Challenges of Farm Mechanization in India<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Availability of adequate farm power is very crucial for timely farm operations for increasing production and productivity and reducing losses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Though India is witnessing considerable progress in farm mechanization, its spread across the length and breadth of our country still remains uneven.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">India\u2019s farm power availability is at 2.49 Kw\/ha in 2018-19 which is much lower as compared to Korea (+7 kw\/ha), Japan (+14kw\/ha), USA(+7kw\/ha).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Steps taken by Government to promote Farm Mechanization<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: The Government <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is already promoting farm mechanization through various schemes and programmes like <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization(SMAM), <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Drones promotion etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The institutes have done commendable work in testing and training and have provided a pool of more than 2.3 lakh of skilled professionals in the area of farm mechanization.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: The post is based on the article \u201cNCAER Report on Farm Machinery Industry in India presented to MoS (Agriculture) Ms. Shobha Karandlaje\u201d published in PIB on 7th February 2023.
