What is the News?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched its second developmental flight of a Small Satellite Launch Vehicle \u2014 SSLV-D2 \u2014 and placed three satellites in a precise orbit.<\/p>\n

About SSLV-D2<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The SSLV-D2 mission put three satellites a)<\/strong> ISRO\u2019s Earth Observation Satellite EOS 07, b)<\/strong> U.S.-based firm’s Antaris\u2019 Janus-1 and c)<\/strong> Chennai-based space startup SpaceKidz\u2019s AzaadiSAT-2.<\/p>\n

Note<\/strong>: SSLV-D1 is considered as a partial failure as it failed to place the satellite in the desired orbit because of a shortfall in velocity.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

What is a Small Satellite Launch Vehicle(SSLV)?<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It is configured with three solid propulsion stages and a velocity terminal module.<\/p>\n

The SSLVs provide a)<\/strong> low-cost access to space, b)<\/strong> offer low turn-around time, c)<\/strong> provide flexibility in accommodating multiple satellites, and d)<\/strong> demand minimal launch infrastructure.<\/p>\n

What is EOS-07?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

EOS-07 satellite is designed, developed and realized by ISRO.<\/p>\n

Objective<\/strong>: To design and develop payload instruments compatible with microsatellite buses and new technologies, which are required for future operational satellites.<\/p>\n

Moreover, it will also design and develop a microsatellite accommodating new technology payloads in a quick turn-around time.<\/p>\n

What is Janus-1?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

It is a technology demonstrator, smart satellite mission based on the Antaris software platform.<\/p>\n
