Tata Group-owned Air India from India has signed a deal with Boeing of the US and Airbus of France to procure 470 jets \u2014 splitting the order with 250 jets from Airbus and 220 from Boeing. This <\/span>makes it the largest-ever pipeline of new aircraft ordered by an Indian airline.<\/span><\/p>\n

Significance of this deal: <\/b>This is the first time in more than 17 years that Air India has placed an aircraft order. It is also the first order placed by the carrier under the ownership of the Tata Group.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 The airline\u2019s last order was for 111 planes \u2013 68 from Boeing and 43 from Airbus \u2013 and that deal was worth $10.8 billion. The order was placed in 2005.<\/span><\/p>\n
