{"id":227461,"date":"2023-02-20T19:27:48","date_gmt":"2023-02-20T13:57:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=227461"},"modified":"2023-02-20T19:27:48","modified_gmt":"2023-02-20T13:57:48","slug":"chandrayaan-3-successfully-completes-crucial-test","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/chandrayaan-3-successfully-completes-crucial-test\/","title":{"rendered":"Chandrayaan-3 successfully completes crucial test"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The post is based on the article<\/span><b> \u201cChandrayaan-3 successfully completes crucial test<\/b><b>\u201d <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">published in<\/span><b> The Hindu <\/b>on <b>20th February 2023<\/b><\/p>\n<h2><b>What is the News?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chandrayaan-3 has successfully completed EMI\/EMC (Electro-Magnetic Interference\/ Electro-Magnetic Compatibility) test.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What is the EMI-EMC test?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The EMI-EMC test is conducted for satellite missions to ensure the functionality of the satellite subsystems in the space environment and their compatibility with the expected electromagnetic levels.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What is Chandrayaan-3?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chandrayaan-3 is a follow-up to the Chandrayan-2 mission.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The mission has three main objectives which include: <strong>a)<\/strong> demonstrating a safe and soft landing on the lunar surface, <strong>b)<\/strong> demonstrating the rover&#8217;s roving capabilities on the moon and <strong>c)<\/strong> performing in-situ scientific observations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The mission <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be launched by GSLV MkIII from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), Sriharikota. It is likely to be launched in June 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Modules:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has three major modules. They are &#8211; the Propulsion module, Lander module and Rover.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>\u2013 The propulsion module <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will carry the Lander and Rover configuration till 100 km lunar orbit. The propulsion module has Spectro-polarimetry of Habitable Planet Earth (SHAPE) payload to study the spectral and polarimetric measurements of Earth from the lunar orbit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>\u2013 The Lander payloads have<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 1) Chandra&#8217;s Surface Thermophysical Experiment (ChaSTE) to measure the thermal conductivity and temperature, 2) Instrument for Lunar Seismic Activity (ILSA) for measuring the seismicity around the landing site, 3) Langmuir Probe (LP) to estimate the plasma density and its variations. A passive Laser Retroreflector Array from NASA is accommodated for lunar laser ranging studies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>\u2013 The Rover payload has<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> an Alpha Particle X-ray Spectrometer (APXS) and Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscope(LIBS) for deriving the elemental composition in the vicinity of the landing site.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: The post is based on the article \u201cChandrayaan-3 successfully completes crucial test\u201d published in The Hindu on 20th February 2023 What is the News?
