It is the second-largest wildlife park in Kerala. It was notified as an Elephant Reserve under Project elephant in 1991-92.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is part of Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, contiguous to the tiger reserves of Nagarhole and Bandipur of Karnataka and Mudumalai of Tamil Nadu is the lone region where vultures thrive in Kerala.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The sanctuary harbors nearly 120-\u00ad150 white \u00adrumped vultures and less than 25 red\u00ad headed vultures.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Vultures in India<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/vultures-in-india\/\"><b>Click Here to read<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vultures faced a catastrophic population decline during the 2000s when the species was exposed to the anti \u00adinflammatory drug diclofenac used as a painkiller for cattle.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">South Asia had about four crore white\u00adrumped vultures until the end of the nineties.
