The architectural features of the ruins reveal a style that is contemporary to a temple at Vallur, built by the Kayastha rulers.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>About Kayastha rulers<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Kayasthas (1239 AD &#8211; 1297 AD) were <strong>subordinates to the rulers of the Kakatiya dynasty<\/strong>. In the history of the Kakatiyas, the Kayastha played a prominent role both as loyal subordinates and traitors.<\/p>\n<p>They ruled the region with <strong>Vallur as the capital<\/strong>. Some rulers of this community were &#8211; <strong>Ganagaya Sahini<\/strong> (1239 &#8211; 1258 AD), <strong>Jannigadeva<\/strong> (1258 &#8211; 1268 AD), and <strong>Ambadeva II<\/strong> (1272 &#8211; 1294 AD).<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>last ruler was Trupurari II<\/strong> (1294 &#8211; 1297 AD).<\/p>\n<h2><strong>About Pushpagiri Kshetram<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Pushpagiri is referred to as\u00a0<strong>Hari-Hara Kshetra, <\/strong>as there are a number of temples dedicated to both <strong>Shiva and Vishnu.\u00a0<\/strong>It is located on the\u00a0<strong>banks of the Pennar river.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The hillock, also known as Pushpachala, is famous for the chain of temples dedicated to the pantheon of Hindu gods such as Chennakesava, Umamaheswara, Rudrapada, Vishnupada, Trikooteswara, Vaidyanatha, Subrahmanya, Vighneswara and Durga Devi.<\/p>\n<p>Pushpagiri is also\u00a0<strong>called the<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>second Hampi<\/strong>\u00a0due to its beautiful architecture.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: The post is based on the article \u201c13th-century temple discovered at Pushpagiri Kshetram in Kadapa district\u201d published in The Hindu on 2nd March 2023.
