What is the News?<\/b><\/h2>\n

The President of India has conferred the <\/span>Swachh Sujal Shakti Samman 2023. <\/span>The President also launched the <\/span>Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain (JSA-CTR) Campaign 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n

Note:<\/b> Nobel laureate Michael Kremer, in his study, has reported that 1.36 lakh lives of children under five years of age can be saved every year in rural India by providing safe and adequate drinking water through tap connections and having safe sanitation practices.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is Swachh Sujal Shakti Samman?<\/b><\/h2>\n

Organized by: <\/b>Ministry of Jal Shakti\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Aim: <\/b>To honour the women champions of the rural water and sanitation sector<\/span>.<\/b><\/p>\n

The event felicitated the exceptional and exemplary work being done at the grassroots level by women in the implementation of <\/span>Swachh Bharat Mission \u2013 Grameen (SBM-G)<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM)<\/span><\/a>, Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain (JSA-CTR).<\/span><\/p>\n

Focused interventions of the JSA-CTR-2023 include (1) <\/b>water conservation and rainwater harvesting; <\/span>(2) <\/b>enumerating, geo-tagging & making an inventory of all water bodies; preparation of scientific plans for water conservation based on it; <\/span>(3)<\/b> setting up of Jal Shakti Kendras in all districts; <\/span>(4) <\/b>intensive afforestation and <\/span>(5) <\/b>awareness generation.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
