What is the News?<\/b><\/h2>\n

The Ministry of Power has accepted the Recommendations of the Task Force Report setup to adopt the Future-Ready Transmission System in India.<\/span><\/p>\n

About the Task Force on Future-Ready Transmission Systems<\/b><\/h2>\n

The task force was set up by the Ministry of Power in 2021 under the chairmanship of POWERGRID Chairman to suggest ways for modernization of the Transmission Sector and making it a smart & future-ready.<\/span><\/p>\n

Need<\/strong>: A modern transmission grid is necessary to achieve the government’s vision of providing 24×7 reliable and affordable power to the people and meet sustainability goals.<\/span><\/p>\n

What are the key recommendations of the Task Force?<\/b><\/h2>\n

The task force has recommended several technological and digital solutions which have been clubbed under four categories: 1)<\/strong> modernization of existing transmission system, 2)<\/strong> Use of advanced technology in construction & supervision, operations & management, 3)<\/strong> Smart & future-ready transmission system and 4)<\/strong> Up-skilling of the workforce.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some of the key recommendations are<\/b>: <\/span>1)<\/b> r<\/span>eal-time monitoring and automated operation of the grid, <\/span>2) <\/b>capability to have an increased share of renewable capacity in the power mix, <\/span>3)<\/b> enhanced utilisation of transmission capacity, <\/span>4) <\/b>greater resilience against cyber-attacks as well as natural disasters, <\/span>5) <\/b>centralised and data-driven decision-making,<\/span> 6) <\/b>reduction in forced outages through self-correcting systems, <\/span>7)<\/b> predictive maintenance technique using AI\/ML algorithms and <\/span>8)<\/b> Use of Drones & Robots in construction\/inspection of transmission assets.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
