It is a conservation programme for the management of identified wetlands (including lakes) in the country on cost sharing basis between the Central Government and respective State Governments \/ Union Territories.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 The scheme covers various activities such as interception, diversion and treatment of wastewater, shoreline protection, lakefront development, in-situ cleaning i.e. desilting &amp; de-weeding, stormwater management, bioremediation, catchment area treatment, lake beautification etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Mission Sahbhagita: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is an important step towards participatory conservation and wise use of wetlands to enable a society ownership approach with communities leading at the forefront.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/union-minister-launches-save-wetlands-campaign-as-a-whole-of-society-approach-for-wetlands-conservation\/\"><b>Save Wetlands Campaign<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Wetlands of India Portal:<\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The portal is a dynamic knowledge repository for wetlands \u2013 one of the world&#8217;s most productive ecosystems.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 The portal has been developed under the Indo-German project on &#8220;Wetlands Management for Biodiversity and Climate Protection&#8221; (2018-2023).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: The post is based on the article \u201cMission Sahbhagita to enable a society ownership approach for participatory conservation and wise use of Wetlands\u201d published in PIB on 16th March 2023 What is the News?
