What is the News?<\/b><\/h2>\n

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has released 14 guidelines to address Human-Wildlife Conflict (HWC).<\/span><\/p>\n

What are the guidelines issued for Human-Wildlife Conflict Mitigation<\/b>?<\/b><\/h2>\n

The guidelines have been developed under the <\/span>Indo-German cooperation project on HWC Mitigation.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

The guidelines are <\/span>advisory in nature. <\/b>A review of these guidelines is planned to take place every five years from 2023 onwards.<\/span><\/p>\n

Objectives of the guidelines:<\/b> 1)<\/strong> <\/span>To facilitate a common understanding of effective and efficient mitigation of HWC among key stakeholders, 2)<\/strong> To facilitate the development of site-specific HWC mitigation measures.<\/span><\/p>\n

Key Features of the guidelines<\/b>: The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has released 14 guidelines. Among them:<\/span><\/p>\n

10 are species-specific guidelines: <\/b>Guidelines for Mitigating Human-Elephant, -Gaur, -Leopard, -Snake, -Crocodile, -Rhesus Macaque, -Wild Pig, -Bear, -Blue Bull and -Blackbuck Conflict and<\/span><\/p>\n

4 are guidelines on cross-cutting issues:<\/b><\/p>\n

\u2013 Guidelines for Cooperation between the Forest and Media sector in India: Towards effective communication on Human-Wildlife Conflict Mitigation.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Occupational Health and Safety in the Context of Human-Wildlife Conflict Mitigation.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Crowd Management in Human-Wildlife Conflict-Related Situations.<\/span><\/p>\n
