Uranium 241 is a new isotope of Uranium. It has an atomic number of 92 and a mass number of 241.<\/span><\/p>\n

Theoretical calculations suggest that this new isotope could have a half-life of 40 minutes.<\/span><\/p>\n

How was Uranium 241 found?<\/b><\/h2>\n

To find uranium-241, the researchers accelerated uranium-238 nuclei into plutonium-198 nuclei using the KEK Isotope Separation System (KISS).<\/span><\/p>\n

In a process called multinucleon transfer, the two isotopes exchanged protons and neutrons, resulting in nuclear fragments with different isotopes.<\/span><\/p>\n
