Other great medieval powers like the Marathas and Southern dynasties<strong> continue to be underrepresented.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>NCERT removed overlapping material<\/strong> from grades 6 to 12 to reduce the burden on students.<\/p>\n<p>It <strong>revolves around the significant policies<\/strong> that redefined the landscape and mindset of the people. Akbar\u2019s policies feature in this theme in the rationalized syllabus as well.<\/p>\n<p>Mughals have been overrepresented in our history books and were an <strong>obvious area for right-sizing.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>What is the way forward?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In the age of Wikipedia, we need to <strong>expose our children to the broad themes <\/strong>and grand sweep of history and create an <strong>understanding of their origins<\/strong>. Children should be equipped with the tools and curiosity to read and research further as they grow.<\/p>\n<p>History teaching should be more engaging and informative.
